Valoo Papercutting

I've been saying to myself for ages that I wanted to try my hand at a paper cut since I've been so inspired by them. My best friend does a lot of paper cutting images herself, I've looked them up on DA and I love the way they look. So I wanted to give this a try at least once. 

So I've been playing through The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker lately and some urge to do art was born out of it. I decided an image of Valoo with Din's pearl, surrounded by the games typical swirly style smoke was a good image to try this out on.

The red card has the gaps cut out of it with a blade and the yellow card is glued to the border as the back colour.

So yeah, first try at a paper cut, I learned I should have made certain bits much wider to avoid ripping the card when it was stressed under the blade, and that Swan Morton scalpel blades are to be respected. o-o
